For many years, Agfa HealthCare has been a proud sponsor of the RSNA Research and Education Foundation. Throughout the years we’ve supported many bright young radiologists with a series of Research Scholar Grants that help them to advance research in their field of interest.

In 2017 the Agfa RSNA R&E Grant went to Manisha Bahl, MD, MPH, a breast imaging radiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Manishe used the grant for her initial research on early stage breast cancer and conducted her study “Machine Learning to Predict Risk of Upgrade and Recurrence of Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS).” Since the initial research has received more than $1.3 million in additional funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and continues to lead collaborative research efforts with MGH, Harvard and MIT to advance understanding of early stage breast cancer. “The purpose of my research is to develop a tool that accurately risk stratifies women with early stage breast cancer. The tool will combine clinical, imaging and pathology data, using cutting-edge machine learning and deep learning techniques.”

Manisha recently sent us this video. Thank you, for your message. And thank you for your continued research.
