Agfa HealthCare is pleased to announce that Dr. Anjum Ahmed has been appointed as the new Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Ahmed joined Agfa HealthCare over 5 years ago and has been steering Agfa HealthCare’s innovation strategy for Enterprise Imaging and Artificial Intelligence.
As CMO, Dr. Ahmed will contribute to the activities that guarantee the safety of patients and users of Agfa HealthCare’s solutions, by providing medical oversight. In addition, he will advise the HealthCare Executive Committee in the development of its strategy, in particular the clinical and medical aspects, and act as Agfa HealthCare’s medical spokesperson at external forums.
Dr. Ahmed brings to the role of CMO his 21 years of global experience in solutions innovation, governance, change management and digital transformation. Before joining Agfa HealthCare, he spent 12 years implementing clinical and imaging IT solutions for a top-tier global vendor. In addition to acting as a speaker at thought leadership events, he has published white papers in leading societies including HIMSS Europe, ESR, on such timely topics as value-based care and evidence-based use of AI.

With a background as a General Physician, Dr. Ahmed also holds MBBS, MBA and ITIL certifications and has completed the International Physician Leadership Development Program from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
On January 23rd and 24th, The British Institute of Radiology (oldest radiological society in the world), together with the Royal College of Radiologists is hosting Artificial Intelligence in Radiology 2020 event, in a two-day format with sessions appealing to a multidisciplinary audience. Dr. Ahmed will be speaking at this event on Day 1 regarding Outcomes-based Practical Application of AI in Radiology.
