Agfa HealthCare announces that long-term customer Amiri Hospital, in Kuwait City, Kuwait, has gone live with the Enterprise Imaging for Radiology platform, on January 10, 2020. The project was successfully implemented with the collaboration of Agfa HealthCare’s new distribution partner in Kuwait, Virtus Informatics.
The highly scalable platform for the radiology department will facilitate the delivery of top-quality care programs and reduce TCO at the recently expanded royal Amiri hospital.
Increased capacity
Amiri Hospital is a general hospital located in Kuwait city and handles an estimated 400,000 patients per year. The large, government-owned healthcare facility which has been in operation since 1949 recently expanded its capacity from 250 to 630 beds. The hospital is both a long-term customer of, and a reference site for, Agfa HealthCare.
In May 2019, the hospital implemented Enterprise Imaging for its cardiology department. In the same year, the team from the medical imaging department, Virtus informatics, and Agfa HealthCare worked to transition the radiology department to Enterprise Imaging. This move will support the hospital in its goal to provide top-quality care combined with its increased capacity, while reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).
A powerful, unified platform
Enterprise Imaging for Radiology offers a single, unified imaging platform, with embedded clinical tools and a powerful workflow engine that help maximize productivity and boost clinical confidence.
It enables radiologist to handle more exams with less effort; improving their efficiency and productivity. The flexible solution can be tuned to their precise needs. Mobility features allow radiologists to work remotely, including from home, while the scalability of Enterprise Imaging supports the hospital’s ongoing efforts to connect with remote sites.
Building on strong relationships
Transitioning to Enterprise Imaging for the radiology department was an obvious choice for Amiri Hospital, which was already familiar with the platform’s capabilities, and with Agfa HealthCare’s systems and support. This was one of the first collaboration projects between Agfa HealthCare and its new distribution partner, Virtus Informatics, which has provided first-line support and implementation services since April 2019.
“Agfa HealthCare’s Enterprise Imaging meets our vision, both in terms of application and technical perspectives. It is a tremendous leap in technology,” comments Dr. Hanaa Al-Khawari, Head of the medical imaging department at Amiri Hospital.
“We are very proud that our long-term relationship with Amiri Hospital has empowered the transition of this large, important customer from IMPAX to Enterprise Imaging. This move will support the hospital’s strategic vision to offer the best quality care programs and reduce TCO,” says Mustafa Hamdy, Regional Manager Middle East for Agfa HealthCare.
